Laos

Laos is where the real ones go.

Nearly all travelers to Southeast Asia go to Thailand. Many go to Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines. But Laos remains underappreciated, partly because it’s not the easiest to access, and it has a very remote feel.

Laos is a stunning country. Luang Prabang is home to the most magical waterfall you’ll ever see. Vang Vieng is filled with opportunities for adventure and startlingly blue lagoons. The Thakhek Loop takes you through an incredible region with steep karst cliffs and vibrantly green rice fields.

If you have enough time to get to Laos, it should be immediately slotted into your Southeast Asian itinerary.
